Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has called on the Health Minister to offer his support to Builth Wells hospital.
During questions to the Minister at the Assembly this week, Ms Williams asked the Health Minister to make money available for the development of the hospital, following the Local Health Board's commitment to preserve beds and develop services.
Ms Williams said: "I was delighted when Powys Local Health Board withdrew its threat to temporarily close beds at the hospital. The Board, in partnership with the local health forum, has instead agreed to submit a capital bid to the Minister, in order to develop an integrated health and social care facility at the hospital.
"This is an exciting proposal, with the potential to safeguard facilities for the future and to enable the hospital to meet the health needs of the local community. I hope that the Minister will support our vital community hospitals."
