Kirsty Williams welcomes lottery grants

April 27, 2006 1:23 PM

Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has congratulated two very different organisations in the constituency on being awarded Heritage Lottery Fund grants.

Knighton Town Forum and the Wales Trekking and Riding Association have both been awarded grants under the Awards for All Wales programme to help develop heritage projects.

Ms Williams said: "I am delighted to see that these important projects are to receive some help and recognition. The preservation of our heritage is vitally important for the education of future generations and for the development of our tourist industry, which is so important to the Welsh economy."

Notes:

Knighton Town Forum has been awarded £500 to help cover the cost of promoting and publicising activities to celebrate the link between the town and Lord Nelson, and commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar.

Wales Trekking and Riding Association, based in Llanwrtyd Wells, has been awarded £4,996 to establish a mobile exhibition displaying the history of Welsh pony trekking.
