Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has welcomed the support given by the Welsh Assembly Government to three historic buildings in her constituency.
St Mary's Church in Brecon, a 15th Century Hall in Painscastle and Eglwys Oen Duw in Beulah will all be given money for restoration and repair work.
Ms Williams said: "I'm delighted that these three important buildings will receive some support towards the cost of maintaining them for future generations. These are places that play important roles in their local communities, as well as attracting interest from outside due to their historic and cultural significance. I congratulate them all on their success in being awarded these grants."
Notes:
The grants come from the Welsh Assembly Government, on advice from the Historic Buildings Advisory Council for Wales. A condition of the grant is that the building must be accessible to the public for a period of ten years.
The medieval St Mary's Church in Brecon has been given ?30,000 towards a scheme of external repairs, including the roof.
Cilau, in Llandeilo Graban, near Painscastle is a 15th Century hall, and has been granted ?4,800 for the restoration of a wall painting.
19th century Eglwys Oen Duw, in Beulah, near Builth Wells, has been given ?30,000 towards repairs, including to the spire and windows (which need re-leading).
