West Wales Jobs boost

March 29, 2007 9:11 AM

Welsh Liberal Democrat Enterprise spokesperson, Kirsty Williams, has welcomed two big job creation announcements for South West Wales.

Internet retailer Amazon are to establish a new centre at Jersey Marine, between Neath and Swansea, which will bring 1,200 jobs to the area, whilst the Connaught Motor Company has chosen Llanelli Gate as the site for it's new manufacturing and research and development headquarters, which is expected to create 300 jobs.

Ms Williams said: "After all the job losses and economic problems that the area has faced in recent years, it is great to be able to have something positive to talk about. Visiting Swansea recently, seeing all the investment that the Council has been putting in, I was struck by the feeling that it really is a city on the up. These two job announcements are a further and welcome boost to the local economy, and hope this will encourage more companies to consider locating in the area."
