Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has expressed her anger at companies unaffordable charges for connecting to Electricity.
Commenting on the experience of her Mid Powys constituents Kirsty said: "I was shocked to learn that one company gave a quote of £41,944.80 for the cost of a new electricity connection.
"Such a figure is completely outrageous, particularly as the connection will only cover a distance of 400 meters. Such charges are clearly unacceptable for what is these days a fairly basic requirement of modern living, namely having access to the national electricity grid.
"It beggars belief that such obscene and excessive charges can be justified and indeed a request of a detailed breakdown of costs was refused by the company. I am shocked that companies are attempting to profiteer from rural people in this way and I have written to the regulator calling for this practice to be investigated."
