"Whilst I welcome the new rights for park home owners in Wales, this has been a missed opportunity for a Wales only Legislation" said Kirsty Williams AM for Brecon & Radnorshire.
Park Home owners in Wales have today been given the same rights as their English counterparts under amendments to the implied terms of the Mobile Home Act 1983. The increased rights will work towards protecting this often vulnerable and elderly group from unscrupulous park owners.
"Welsh park home owners have been at a disadvantage to their English equivalents for over a year now and this lengthy time period would have been a fantastic opportunity for the Assembly Government to address the failings and loopholes that have become apparent in England.
"The past 12 months should have been spent consulting within the sector in order to learn the lessons and provide Wales with better legislation than England.
"I now call upon the Minster not to sit back on her laurels and wait for the complaints to pile in on her desk but to get out there and consult widely with both the industry, tenants and resident's associations in order to get firm and workable ideas for practical improvements to bring this legislation up to gold standard."
