Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon & Radnorshire Kirsty Williams has commended Howey Church in Wales School and Brecon High School for being awarded their Quality Marks.
The Basic skills Agency has awarded the marks after the schools were assessed under a stringent list of criteria which are designed to improve pupils' performance in literacy and numeracy. These awards are part of the Basic Skills Agency's national strategy for the development of basic skills across both England and Wales.
"I congratulate Howey School and Brecon High on their awards; both of which are as a result of the hard work and dedication of the schools their teachers and pupils to first class teaching and learning.
"These schools have proven that they have a whole-school strategy; a target for improving the school's performance and for involving parents in developing their children's basic skills. I am delighted that we are seeing these measures of quality awarded in both shire's of the constituency and in both small and larger school's alike."
