Kirsty Williams AM for Brecon and Radnorshire and Liam Fitzpatrick, Cllr for Talybont, have welcomed the news that the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority has served Planning Contravention Notices (PCNs) on Gilestone Caravan Park.
The contents of the Gilestone PCNs are currently confidential but relate to planning issues, the site owner will have twenty days to respond. The PCNs will lead to a report to members of the board.
Kirsty Williams said: "This news is long awaited confirmation that the Park Authority's machine is slowly grinding into motion to address the concerns repeatedly raised by Cllr Fitzpatrick and the community he represents.
"After months of calling on the Authority to take action to remedy the shocking issues raised in the Gilestone report I hope that this is the sign we need that the Executive is finally taking action to turn the shambolic planning department around.
"The officers have a daunting task ahead of them, with a backlog of 300 applications but I hope that with the right support and leadership they can do it. I will continue to lobby both the Authority and the Assembly Government to ensure that improvements are evident."
Liam Fitzpatrick commented:" Ever since my election the Gilestone situation has taken up an enormous amount of my time as it is a key issue for my constituents and I am delighted to see that our hard work is starting to pay off with the announcement of these PCNs.
"We had a successful meeting with the Minister last week who is keeping a close eye on the Park Authority's progress and who is pushing for a complete turn around on a tight timescale. I hope that the PCNs are the first step in moving forward towards a vastly improved and efficient authority and I will continue to apply pressure on the authority to make progress."
