The Welsh Liberal Democrats have slammed the Assembly Government for failing children in care across Wales.
In questions to the Minister for Skills Kirsty Williams, Welsh Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Education, highlighted the plight of young care leavers who have been let down by the education system in Wales.
Kirsty commented: "It is shameful that 54% of Care leavers have no A*-G GCSEs and moreover that 51% are not in education, employment or training (NEET) on their 19th Birthday.
"The WAG is quite simply failing a whole sector of our young people who are often already facing an emotionally traumatic period and who need as much support as possible to help them to lead a normal, satisfying and successful life.
"Children in care have as much right to educational attainment as other children and these figures clearly show that WAG needs to do more to ensure this equal access to equal achievement becomes a reality."
