Kirsty Williams, AM for Brecon & Radnorshire, will use her short debate next Wednesday to call upon the Minister for Health to take urgent action to address ambulance cover in Powys.
Kirsty said: "Month on month Powys Ambulances fail to meet emergency response time targets. Month on month we see the same failings - not from the hard working ambulance staff but from an Assembly Government which is refusing to invest properly in the service; an Assembly Government which does not understand the exceptional geographic and demographic constraints of our county.
"We currently face the removal of the Ystradgynlais base to Carmarthen, an exercise to meet national targets and a further blow to the service in Powys.
"It is time that the WAG acknowledges the second rate service that Powys patients are receiving and actually take action to address the overstretched service. We cannot continue to risk lives in this way.
"The Minister must address the Trust's excessive debt; they must address their role in the air ambulance; they must improve our minor injury provision locally; they must expand the role of paramedics. I shall be using my debate to call for these improvements."

Kirsty has been drawn for the Assembly short debate on Wednesday 28th January.
