Kirsty and Mark Perry
The Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, Kirsty Williams AM, backed Mark Perry's campaign to win the Rossett by election during a visit to North Wales today (Monday 26th January 2009).
Following a visit earlier to Airbus in Broughton, Ms Williams AM joined Liberal Democrat candidate Mark Perry in Rossett to discuss the local issues he is campaigning to tackle and to meet voters in the area.
Speaking after the visit Kirsty said: "Mark will be a great addition to the Liberal Democrat group on Wrexham council and an excellent councillor for Rossett, Burton, Lavister and Trevalyn.
"The coalition council in Wrexham, led by Liberal Democrat Cllr Aled Roberts, has made some real and measurable improvements since taking over the mess they inherited from the previous Labour administration.
"The Liberal Democrat influence has been key to that improvement and electing another Lib Dem by choosing Mark Perry for Rossett on February 5th will ensure that progress continues in the right direction."
Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate Mark Perry said: "I'm grateful to Kirsty for her support and for taking time out from her busy schedule to back my campaign here in Rossett.
"I've had an overwhelmingly positive response to my campaign and the many local issues I am tackling on behalf of local residents, issues such as parking problems on Station Road, more bus shelters at rural bus stops and demand for greater access to public transport with a train new station to serve the local community.
"I am confident we are in a good position at this stage of the by-election and looking forward to polling day," added Mark
