Kirsty and Roger call to save Felinfach payphone

Brecon & Radnorshire AM Kirsty Williams and MP Roger Williams have condemned BT's proposals to remove the small village of Felinfach's pay phone.
After being alerted to the situation by the local community council the AM and MP have made representations to BT calling for them to reconsider the proposals to remove the phonebox from this small Powys community just outside Brecon.
Kirsty Williams said: "Phone boxes in isolated areas may be used less frequently but their availability can be a lifeline in emergency situations.
"Not everyone has a mobile phone and even if they do the network coverage in Felinfach is very poor. This payphone is situated adjacent to the A470 and if someone has broken down in their car or suffered an accident whilst out walking or cycling they may need access to a payphone to call for help."
Roger Williams said: "Even if they are only used once or twice a week payphones still have the potential to save lives. BT has an obligation to maintain a network of pay phones on the grounds of public safety and social inclusion not on economic viability."
"With no mobile 'phone signal available, the payphone is the only means of communication in an emergency or when people need to call for taxis or minibuses to collect them.
"We hope that BT will listen to our and the local community's calls to retain this payphone."
