The recent restoration of a bus service connecting Pontneathvaughan to Neath has been warmly welcomed by Brecon & Radnorshire's MP Roger Williams and AM Kirsty Williams.
Both politicians have lobbied hard to see the service restored after it was withdrawn in the early summer.
Commenting on the development, Roger Williams said:
"Pontneathvaughan is a substantial village, yet is has recently seen the closure of its primary school and Post Office and the sudden ending of its public bus service. I have received many messages of justified concern about this complete loss of services from constituents living in and around the village and am therefore delighted that at least one service has returned. This has been achieved by good co-operation between Powys and Neath Port Talbot Councils and the local community transport operator DANSA. I thank all involved for their work on this."
Kirsty Williams added:
"The loss of the school was a grievous blow to the village, as was the closure of the Post Office. I am very pleased to hear that, following requests from Roger and me, Post Office Ltd. is actively seeking to establish a 'Partner' service, to be located in an existing business in Pontneathvaughan, and that a sub-Postmaster nearby has already been identified to manage the service. This is very encouraging news and we await developments with interest."
