Kirsty Williams AM for Brecon and Radnorshire and Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats has criticised Powys LHB following the publishing of a report that reveals Ystradgynlais Hospital has over £1.5 million of backlog maintenance that is classed as "high risk" or "significant risk".
An NHS Wales Estates report for 2008-2009 showed that whilst some improvements were made across the Powys LHB area, Ystradgynlais Hospital now accounts for approximately 62% of the high or significant risk backlog maintenance for the whole of Powys Local Health Board.
Kirsty Williams said: "Whilst I welcome the slight reduction in the total LHB backlog maintenance costs, the figures for Ystradgynlais Hospital are shocking. I will be writing to the Chief Executive of the Local Health Board to demand that action is taken to address this backlog".
