Kirsty Williams AM for Brecon and Radnorshire yesterday (Wednesday, March 5th) questioned Health Minister Edwina Hart about the backlog of maintenance in the NHS.
Kirsty highlighted the case of Ystradgynlais Hospital, which has a large proportion of the backlog held by Powys Local Health Board. In fact, some 62% of the high or significant risk backlog maintenance for the whole of Powys Local Health Board is accounted for by the backlog at Ystradgynlais Hospital.
The Minister responded by saying that she thought it would be helpful for her to come and visit the Hospital to see for herself the need for modernisation.
Kirsty Williams said: "I am still shocked that the situation with Ystradgynlais Hospital has been allowed to arise in the first place, but I am pleased that the Minister has agreed to visit the Hospital to see for herself the backlog that patients and front line staff have to contend with. I have written to the Minister formally inviting her to visit, and I look forward to welcoming her in the near future."
