Kirsty Williams AM for Brecon and Radnorshire has commented on the news from the Welsh Assembly Government that the application window for farmers to join the All-Wales element of the Glastir scheme has been pushed back after an additional option in the scheme.
Application packs to join the All-Wales Element will now be issued from 4 October 2010 and applicants will have until 22 November 2010, to return their completed application forms. The addition of maintaining stock fences on stock excluded woodland has meant that the application window has been delayed.
Kirsty Williams said: "We have been warning the Minister Elin Jones for months now that the scheme needed more fine tuning before its hasty roll out from January 2012. This last minute addition will not only delay the application process but cause more headaches for Farmers already battling the bureaucracy. Whilst I welcome additional eligibility criteria, I hope there is enough time for Farmers to get to grips with the All-Wales element and get access to the scheme."
